- RTI applications must be submitted to the appropriate public authority or Public Information Officer (PIO).
- The prescribed application fee and accepted payment methods vary by the applicable Central or State RTI rules. Eligible applicants may qualify for fee exemption.
- An RTI application is for obtaining existing information or records; it is not a substitute for a grievance, appeal or request to create new information.
- Processing Time: Under the applicable RTI Act, information is generally due within 30 days of receipt by the public authority, subject to statutory exceptions and special circumstances.
