Types:

  • State Government welfare scheme for girl children.

  • Implemented by the Government of Karnataka under the Department of Women and Child Development.

  • Focused on financial assistance and social security for girl children born in below-poverty-line (BPL) families.

Benefits:

  • A fixed deposit of ₹25,000 is made in the name of each eligible girl child at birth.

  • On attaining 18 years of age, the girl receives the maturity amount (around ₹1–1.2 lakh with interest).

  • Additional scholarships for education are provided at different school levels.

  • Health insurance and accidental coverage are included for the beneficiary.

  • The girl becomes eligible for the full amount only if:

  • She remains unmarried till 18 years.

  • She completes at least SSLC (10th standard) education.

Eligibility:

  • The girl child must be born after 31 March 2006.

  • The family must belong to the BPL category.

  • Only two girl children from a family are eligible.

  • Parents must register the birth of the girl child and apply within one year of birth.

  • The girl must be immunized as per government norms.

  • The child must not be involved in child labor and must attend school regularly.

  • The parents must be permanent residents of Karnataka.
